World Black Pudding Throwing Contest

Ramsbottom’s farmer's market in September was a bit unusual. The second Sunday in September brings the Official World Black Pudding Throwing Championship to the village. Legend has it that during the War of the Roses both armies ran out of ammunition and threw food at each other instead.

The Black Pudding Throwing Championship returns on Sunday 12th September... Since time immemorial the historic public house has paid tribute to the brave men and women who repelled raiding parties from Yorkshire... by competing to dislodge Yorkshire Puddings from the ceremonial plinth with finest quality Bury black puddings.
