Enoteca con cucina (A serious WINE bar [no beer] with kitchen)

The hideaway is in the basement cellars under ramsons restaurant; it shares the basic quality of its ingredients and wine with its big brother.

But that’s where the similarities stop, because it is totally informal with a set menu of the day served at 8pm. Talented local chef Louise Varley describes her food as ‘Italian comfort food’ with delicious antipasto, rich
hot soups, slow roast meats, stunning pasta, tasty mature cheese and simple, home made desserts at very modest prices!

After his first visit, Neil Sowerby (the food & drink editor of the Manchester Evening news) described the hideaway as “probably the most authentic enoteca in Britain” – AND IT’S HERE IN RAMMY!

About

Here at The Cultured Bean we aim to serve the best quality food and drink in a relaxed, sophisticated atmosphere. We have included a wide range of local produce and yet the majority of our food is made on the premises, from our delicious soups and salad dressings to our own award winning bitter chocolate torte.

We have won several ‘foodie’ accolades over the years from professional food critics and our own customers, awards much cherished!

We have recently recruited some new ‘girls’ – our flock of hardworking free-ranging hens lay the eggs for our menu. (Edith is a particular show off, as she likes to produce ‘double yokers’. Watch out for one on your plate)!

As we are committed to helping the local environment, the waste coffee grounds, vegetable peelings and egg shells go onto our compost heap to help grow the seasonal fruit and vegetables provided for our menu.

By popular demand our Chocolate Tortes and Ma Bean’s puddings are available for you to take home and enjoy, along with our ‘All Dressed Up’ range of salad dressings.

About

Since opening as the Village restaurant almost 25 years ago, Ros Hunter and Chris Johnson’s restaurant has become a local institution – which is nationally recognised for the quality of its food, wine and service
standards.

It’s not cheap to dine there in the evening, but well worth it if you are a foodie with a special occasion to celebrate.

Sunday lunch is traditional, with the most amazing rare roast rib of beef and seriously flumptuous Yorkshire (boo) puddings.

Ramsons is the old English word for wild garlic, so the real name is the wild garlic café!
