Had a a superb evening meal at The Lounge last week. The fish pie was the best I’ve ever tasted, in a relaxed atmosphere with excellent service. I’ll be back soon … ( and recommending to all my friends )Many thanks.

Very disappointed with The Lounge – it looks like they’ve made an effort with the decor, but I went in for breakfast a while ago. I had a bacon sandwich and coffee. While the coffee wasn’t bad, the bacon sandwich was an insult – it looked like it had been slapped on some Tesco value bread with a few bits of salad thrown on the plate as an afterthought – and they had the cheek to charge £4+ for it! I really wanted it to be a nice place to go for breakfast. I also have friends who have been similarly disappointed with the quality of the food here. I shan’t be returning!

I have had the pleasure of dining at The Lounge on a number of occasions during this year. I’ve taken my Mother for a Mothers Day luncheon, and my Daughter for many light lunches. On every occasion our food was well received, the service was friendly, the presentation was lovely, and the menu varied and very vegetarian friendly.
I’m disappointed to see such a bad review of this great relaxing venue. I’ve seen a party of ladies having a lunch to celebrate the arrival of twins, who were all well attended to and looked to be very much enjoying themselves. On the many times we’ve attended I have not come across an unhappy customer.
We are blessed in Ramsbottom to have a great selection of varied restaurants. I’d like to thank The Lounge for the great times I, and my family have enjoyed there. And we WILL be returning!

Have to agree that the sandwiches at the Lounge are no better than a pre packed supermarket sandwiche.
I have also been for breakfast and I was served bacon sandwiches in processed sliced white bread with coleslaw – not really appropriate for bacon breakfast sandwiches.
I have ordered sandwiches a number of times and been disappointed however have also ordered main meals which have been delicious and well worth the money.
Sandwiches need to be brought up to the same standard as the other dishes served.

….had the opportunity to try the breakfast on Friday. I hadn’t eaten from the old menu and I must say the quality of my food was excellent – any time I have been in The Lounge I have found Sarah to be very open to customer comments.
Do give it a try, if we support local business it may encourage more people to set up in our little town.

Dissappointed when recently dining at the lounge to find the food took much longer than expected to arrive and the hot pot and red cabbage was a let down.
The place is nice to look at but we wouldnt eat there again. Would like to see it improve as wish to support local businesses.

The lounge is one of the most fantastic dining places I have been to in England with some truly delicious food. Last year we went to the Dining Room which we were devestated to hear had closed and we are so pleased to have stumbled across another truly wonderful restaurant. The staff were very welcoming from our telephone enquiry onwards we were treated delightfully. Our meals were delicious, I especially reccomend the pumpkin risotto starter and Rick the slow cooked pork. We only come to the area once a year and it was a real treat to be able to have dinner at the dining room and I can’t wait to return next year.

Andrea, You say you wish to suppost local businesses but also say you won’t eat there again? If you read the menu it says that all food is prepared fresh, more than can be said for many establishments!! We did wait about 20 minutes for our food, but thats how long things take to COOK, not microwave!! Delicious food, great place and the staff are fantastic too.

I have eaten here a couple of times and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. I think you perhaps were unlucky with your sandwiches as the ones I have had are always tasty. I have recommeded it to my colleagues who have all visited and come back with good things to say. They are now even asking if there are events on in Rammy in order to give them an excuse to the visit The Lounge!
I think we are very spoiled with all the great places to eat in the town and I only wish I had the time and money to try them all more regularly…

I had the pleasure to visit The Lounge recently on a Sunday evening and my visit coincided with a visit of a singer Gemma Latham; apparently a new venture for the Lounge. I believe there will be more evenings of live music in the new year and I’ll be looking out for them… a great place to spend the evening relaxing with good food and great ambience
Keep up the good work Sarah.

We had some fantastic meals here last night, I had the pork belly and my husband the fish & chips. Better than some places in Manchester that advertise themselves as restaurants. Well done Lounge and keep it up

We had yet another fantastic evening last night at the Lounge. Food was delicious, very tasty and definitely worth every penny! The service excellent, all the staff are very friendly and efficent. The atmosphere is always relaxing even when it’s busy. It is our favourite place to eat. Eleven of us had our work’s Christmas meal there in December and no one was dissapointed, we all had a great night. Everyone has said they’ll be going back. I recommend you all the time. Thank you everyone at the Lounge for all your hard work. It’s lovely to have such a great place to go to right on our doorstep!

My colleague and I have been visiting Ramsbottom recently with a view to opening a small retail outlet in the town. One of the many things that impressed us was the diversity of the local shops and also the quality of the eating establishments. We called into the Lounge on a Monday lunch time and were delighted by the time we left! We were surrounded by people of all ages who were obviously having a lovely time. Every table was full, the service was quick, friendly and efficient – and the food …fabulous and great value for money. It certainly helped persuade us that we were looking in the right town …..so we hope to see you again very soon. With many thanks from melt.

I visited the lounge when it first opened and enjoyed a pork belly with mash. The following weekend, rather than eat lunch in Manchester, we returned to support our new local hostelry. I had a small lunchtime portion of chicken caesar salad, tasty but very expensive @ £7.95.
I spoke with manager and asked him to knock a couple of £’s off to which he replied “If we did that for everyone who complained we’d be out of business!” I wrote to teh owners who finally responded by saying that they recognised that this dish was overpriced and have therefore created a lunchtime price and a dinner price…. but no apology or gesture. I have never been there since.

We went to the Lounge after reading a post on this website that it was good for vegetarians – don’t know where that came from as we were very disappointed to see that there is actually only ONE vegetarian main course!!

I read and appreciate all comments made on here, good and bad. I feel I have to respond to nic raynors comments as it has me somewhat confused. We have a reasonably large menu which caters for the wide range of customers which come through our doors. So when I read that there are very few vegetarian options I am surprised. Out of the 18 main course options we have 5 of them are vegetarian. Out of the whole menu, which contains 51 items (excl side orders, desserts, kids meals) 23 of the items are vegetarian. I do hope we see you again in the future.
Thanks

Great child friendly place! Lancashire hotpot is out of this world, we are so lucky to have a place like this locally.
Sarah don’t take the critical comments of some reviewers to heart some people just love to moan!

Question: I recently attended the Lounge. The hamburgers we were served were still pink on the inside. The lady stated that because it was so many cuts of beef this was normal can it be? -so I googled it to make sure:
Answer: Yes, a cooked burger that’s pink on the inside can be safe to eat — but only if the meat’s internal temperature has reached 160°F throughout.
so was the internal temperature of the burger tested ?
Also I believe the risk of Ecoli on ground mince is higher if the meat is pink thanks!!
Thanks for half the money back on the burger, but for a pregnant lady risking Ecoli Shame on you!!!

I feel I have to respond to Wendy’s comment of July 14th – not specifically regarding the Lounge, but it seems quite an immature attitude to recommend that the owner of the establishment doesn’t take on board people’s comments on a FEEDBACK MESSAGE BOARD! And simplistic to opine that ‘some people just love to moan’. Would people really make the effort to give feedback if it wasn’t important or valid? Isn’t the whole point of these forums to give people an opportunity to express dissatisfaction as well as praise, in order to try to achieve some positive change? To give our opinions in order to try to support these businesses? It is, after all, the consumer’s pound that keeps them going, and therefore any constructive criticism could potentially be beneficial, particularly in the current economic climate. Or should we all just put up and shut up, as Wendy would have us believe?

We’re normally big fans of the Lounge, however we were very disappointed last Friday. There is a new menu with only 4 starters on (1 is soup and 1 is bread and oil) so not very exciting. The mains menu is also much smaller – no sign of game of the day etc. The menu is very limited.
My husband had a special of chicken liver with toasted croutons. It came byt the croutons were a large piece of deep fried white bloomer bread. When you put a knife on it the oil oozed out, not nice. He ate the livers and mentioned it to the owner when she collected our plate. She said she would speak to Chef but never bothered to come back to us.
My mains was supposed to be a traditional steak rag pudding so imagine my surprise when a dry steak pie arrived. No mention from the staff that it wasn’t what I ordered and no apolgy when I asked where pudding was.
The place was very quiet, much quieter than normal with few people eating – is this the new small menu or a change of chef? There were 3 waiting staff plus owner who spent most of the night chatting at the bar. I never did get a coffee after dinner!
All in all really disappointed by the Lounge now which is a real shame as it used to be very good. Maybe other people have experienced similar and that is why it was dead on a Friday night?

A GOOD burger should be served pink.
Got to be careful if you’re expecting I suppose, good luck with that. My missus loves mussels, but couldn’t even go near them when she was expecting.
Not sure what that adds.

THank for the comments regarding the new menu.
The specials board will change more frequently in future and because our menu reflects the use and availability of produce in season locally some items will not always be available ie game.
As for the quiet Friday evening – the final night of Big Brother kept a lot of people at home for the evening. They came out Saturday instead …

As usual thanks for everyones comments.
For a short period the burgers we served were occasionally being served with pink patches within the meat. This was because the mince we were using was made up of different cuts of meat which does cook to different colours. It was not because the meat wasn’t cooked through. After this became a consistent problem our butcher is now preparing us a different mince which is only made from one part of the cow. I hope this clarifies the situation about us serving raw burgers.
With regards to us being very quiet on a friday night, it is unfortunate that we cant be busy all of the time that we are open. Our trade is dependent on various factors and this does include tv programmes, weather, school holidays etc. So nights i can assure you we will be quiet will be finals of xfactor, strictly come dancing, bank holiday monday nights etc
thanks sarah

I’m a big fan of The Lounge. The new menu is amazing and enjoyed by my nearest and dearest frequently.
I visit The Lounge with friends and family and I often have business meetings there.
I am always greeted with a smile from all members of staff. It is so cosy with the comfortable sofas that it feels like I’m walking into my front room.
Thank you for the great service.
See you soon
